Dr Mary Howard
International Arbitrator-Oil & Gas Law
International Commercial Arbitrator, Past Secretary of the SEB CIArb (South East branch), Arbitration researcher at Robert Gorden University, PhD, LLM, PGD in Oil & Gas Law, FCIArb, MCMI, Mbiicl, GradEI, Social Research Association (SRA), MSSSPG, Member of Scociety of Petrolium Engineers.
Dr Howard is a Qualified International Arbitrator specializing in Oil and Gas Law.
A major challenge in international interactions is the cultural barrier between western customs, attitudes and those of other parts of the world, for example the Middle East.
With a deep understanding of both cultures it is possible to understand not just what is happening on the surface but the thought processes of various parties. Equally important is an understanding of what works best and what does not work on each side.
Ms. Howard has extensive experience in legal consulting, training, advice, writing/editing contracts and advocacy including the High Courts of Justice in London with extensive negotiation and out of court settlement skills. She is the Secretary of the South East Branch of the Charted Institute of Arbitrators. In addition to Masters level academic training in writing awards and contracts, possesses hands on practical experience in legal procedures, including Claim handling and case management.
Mr. Philip Fidler

Mr Philip Fidler has been involved in the construction industry as a quantity surveyor since 1966 but latterly as a director of various consultancies specialising in disputes and their avoidance.
He has had over a hundred appointments as a Construction Adjudicator since his first in 1999. These include a Decision which was the subject of Mr Justice Akenhead’s judgment enforcing it in All Metal Roofing versus KAMM Properties Ltd on 7th October 2010.
He has practised as an Arbitrator since 1988 with about sixty appointments to date of which the vast majority involved construction matters. These include being the eventual Arbitrator chosen by the parties following the well known Court of Appeal judgment on 7th December 2005 between Collins (Contractors) Ltd and Baltic Quay Management (1994) Ltd.
He has been appointed as Expert Witness on about thirty occasions including acting as quantum expert in Norwich Union versus Schal and Others which concerned the £100 million plus dispute in respect of the Galleries Shopping Complex in Bristol. He has given testimony in court on several occasions including one where Donald Keating and John Dyson were opposing Queen’s Counsel.
From 1984 to 1994 Mr Fidler was a Committee member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators South-East Region, including: Secretary – 1985 to 1992; Vice Chairman – 1993; Chairman – 1994. He rejoined the committee in 2008.
He has been a member of the Society of Construction Law since 1986; a member of the Arbrix club since 1988 (the arbitration club of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors); a member of the Adjudication Society since its inception and currently a member of its sub-committee on Adjudication. He is also a member of a similar sub-committee for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
He was a visiting lecturer on Arbitration at Kingston University in 2005 and 2007. He is an approved tutor/examiner/assessor for Module 3 (Arbitration) and examiner/assessor for the Accelerated Fellowship Route (Adjudication) of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
He was invited to become a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators in October 2003 and became a Liveryman in 2004, a Trustee in 2007 and Court Assistant in 2008. Since 2008 he has chaired their Pupillage Scheme for those embarking on a career in ADR, and also became Vice-Chairman of their Charitable Trust in that year.
Mr. Robert Babak Madadi Howard

Since 2005 Robert Babak Madadi Howard’s main multi-disciplinary research focus has been on the heterogeneous nature of systemic effects precipitated by the interaction of the twin challenges in energy and finance. In simple terms, how big an effect, how soon, and what does it look like in a specific locality or sector. His other research projects have included nanotechnology and Artificial Intelligence between 1994 and 2005.
Trained in engineering, electronics and IT. With over 20 Years Experience in engineering, IT and financial systems gained as a senior IT consultant and business analyst for major global companies.
He has acted as a key senior consulted on several multi billion dollar projects. His clients have included BOC Gases, Thermo Electron Corporation, NFC Plc, Capgemeni Ernst and Young, Lloyds TSB, Barclays bank, Hyder Plc, NTL, FOX Network, NHS, Pfizer and the Inland Revenue. His experience includes Real time process control, computerised mechatronics, computerised Telecomms exchange software, real time tracking and packet switch communication systems, computerised vacuum pumps for the semiconductor industry, medical systems, financial systems development and business process analysis.
Mr R.B.M Howard is the company’s business and investment analyst as well as the company’s IT Consultant.
Mr. Ian Charles Craig
Estate Mangement
Ian was educated at one of England’s top public schools. He has always been interested in real estate and started his property portfolio and property management in the 1980s.
He has been a director of several property companies since that time; his exceptional attention to detail is one of the keys to his success.Ian joined the ENGlegal team in 2011 and his knowledge of property management is a valuable addition to the ENGlegal team.
Ms. Kathryn Gillet
Finance Manager
Before joining the team Kathryn had spent 28 years in the finance sector, gaining experience working for a major high street bank. Serving as a Finance Manager she managed budgets, forecasts and provided financial reports. Ms Gillet is the company’s accounts and admin Manager.
Miss Jordan Frances Jose -Legal Assistant
Jordan has completed the ILEX Professional Diploma in Law and is currently
in her final year of the LLB degree course. She has previously trained
as a legal secretary in a law firm and has experience of working with
Brighton County Court.
Jordan wishes to become a solicitor in the future.
